Kiss My ASSets
Women! Take your past and define your future in business and life
by Kiki Rozema

Do you allow your past experiences to define your future? Past criticisms and failures to define the way you see yourself? Most of us do. Women especially. We feel torn down by the barrage of comparisons from a disapproving society, and too often, let ourselves be drawn into the destructive cycle of competitiveness and judgement, trying to lift ourselves up by tearing other women down. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Our experiences shape who we are as women, but they do not define us … unless we let them. We have the power to change who we are, how we see ourselves, and even how we are perceived by others, by choosing (and working) to change how we react to those memories. And once we feel better about ourselves, and embrace our own strengths as women, the more we can accept other women as allies, to be supported and relied upon, rather than as adversaries. Filled with insights, tools, and simple strategies developed over a lifetime fraught with emotional challenges and loss, Kiss my ASSets offers a relatable and thought-provoking story of how one woman overcame her own insecurities, anxiety, and negative self-image, discovering her own value and potential, one step at a time, and creating a life—and a business—designed to specifically to empower women and their relationships with one another.

Author, teacher, and entrepreneur, Kiki Rozema lived most of her life with the same sorts of fears and insecurities that affect most women, which took root in her psyche early on thanks to issues with weight-gain, societal expectations, and a complicated relationship with her mother. She eventually managed to earn three degrees, and find success during her fifteen years as a teacher—forming bonds with her junior-high students and developing various Language Art strategies that are still in use today. That’s when her confidence finally caught up with her abilities and intrinsic value. Learning to respect, love, accept herself, the world finally began to see her as she was, rather than as the diminished version of herself she had been projecting, and things began to change. Despite a number of painful losses, and setbacks, she is now happily retired from teaching and is the founder and CEO of Smoothies Tank Tops, a successful athleisure company aimed at helping women feel confident and better about themselves and what they wear. She lives in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with her supportive and loving husband, Neil, her two children, Kristopher and Noah, her German shepherd, Milo, golden retriever, Mowgli, and two cats, Mr. Waffles and Scooter.
