The map had a big red X on it … As two campers set out into the forest, they discover a four-legged friend in need. How can they help Black, the dog, feel safe and happy again? The book, thoughtfully translated to be available in sign language and braille tape (available on request), allows children of all abilities to share in the adventure, making this heartwarming story, the perfect stepping stone for every budding reader.

Karen P. Mitchell has over a decade of experience in the tourism industry, focusing on destination development. Inspired by her son learning to read, her dog and the work being done to make destinations accessible to all, Karen wrote Pip and Nat, an inclusive picture book to share a message of compassion – especially for dogs. She moved to the country as a student, fell in love with Canada, choosing to make it her home. A bilingual speaker, with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a graduate certificate in tourism management, Karen loves adventure travel, baking and gardening. She lives with her husband, son, and their dog, a Rottweiler named Bane. This is her first book.
