A Way Between Hearts
A Gardener's Journey of Faith, Healing and Hope in the Remote Central Highlands of Afghanistan
by
Heather Bellamy
In A Way Between Hearts, Heather Bellamy shares her experience of living and working in remote Bamiyan, Afghanistan. While battling her own grief and loss, Heather relies on God to give her the strength she needs to serve the war-wounded people of Afghanistan. Her faith moves her to build a healing garden in Bamiyan, where she forms strong bonds with the people around her, sharing in their sorrow and joy. Heather’s story sheds light on Afghan culture in a way that only first-hand experience can. It depicts day-to-day interactions with clarity and warmth, painting a vivid picture of the Afghan way of life. Through friendly visits to neighbouring families and training sessions with locals hired to care for the healing garden, Heather gains an intimate understanding of the social and economic challenges faced by the people of Afghanistan. Characterized by its hopeful spirit, this heartfelt memoir celebrates God’s ability to use any situation, no matter how difficult, to accomplish His good purposes.
Heather Bellamy has lived and worked with Afghan people for nearly two decades. She is dedicated to fulfilling God’s purpose for her life through her work, which has taken her to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and along the ‘migrant river’ in Greece. She currently resides in Terrace, British Columbia.
