To Live Forever
Poems on Love, Loss, and Becoming
by
Lexi Joann
“I write for you, though selfishly I write for me, because the page is where I can live on for eternity.” Even in the ruins, you can bloom. To Live Forever is more than poetry, it’s a mirror for anyone who has loved, lost, and fought to find themselves again. Through five powerful sections: Hurting, Breaking, Healing, Loving, and Living—Lexi Joann traces the imperfect yet beautiful evolution of a soul learning to grow through heartbreak—both in love and within oneself. With raw vulnerability and fierce honesty, these poems speak to the sting of betrayal, the quiet triumph of self-acceptance, and the joy of blooming after pain. Each page offers comfort, courage, and a reminder that survival itself is its own kind of poetry. This collection is for those piecing themselves back together, for anyone in the depths of heartbreak, and for all who are daring to love again—whether it’s another person or the reflection in the mirror. If you’ve ever questioned your worth or longed for proof that you can rise, To Live Forever will meet you where you are and show you that you are not alone.
“Moving through the stages of grief and healing… the poems begin amid heartbreak and end up affirming the complications and joys of life.” —Foreword Clarion Reviews
Lexi Joann was raised in the small prairie town of Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada. She first encountered poetry at eleven years old, performing spoken word pieces from other poets in her local music festival Speak Out category. At the time, she didn’t yet appreciate poetry the way she would later. It wasn’t until her teenage years, while struggling with self-image and the pain of growing up, that she turned to poetry as a way to feel seen and less alone. By fifteen, she was writing her own work, transforming her thoughts, emotions, and experiences into art. At eighteen, she self-published her debut poetry collection, Due to You (2022). What started as an escape from her emotions has become something she cannot escape at all. For Lexi, the most meaningful part of writing is the possibility of sparking a genuine connection with a reader. Poetry, to her, is a raw human experience described by the heart—and if she has felt something, there’s a good chance someone else has too. Now, at twenty-one, she lives in Alberta, Canada, working full time in her family's business. When she isn’t writing poetry or working, Lexi can be found curled up with her tabby cat, Kiwi, reading books of all genres (though romantasy is her favourite), spending time with her family and friends, or having her daily dance party. To Live Forever is her second poetry collection.
