Alaric Thorne and the Soulforge Amulet
by Daniel Todd-Norris

Dragons may be extinct, but the evil they fought isn’t, and it’s stirring once more. This is what the young scholar Alaric Thorne knows as he combs the Library of Alexandria for a glimmer of hope in the looming conflict. He learns that although the dragons may be gone, that doesn’t mean they’re truly lost forever. Some part of them remains in the ruins of the city they died to protect, buried and bound to a long lost artifact: the Soulforge Amulet. When Alaric sets out to uncover this powerful artifact, he’ll find that even benevolent power comes at a cost. To claim it, he must merge his body, his mind, and his very soul with what remains in the amulet. He must become something more, leaving his humanity behind to serve as a beacon of hope in this darkest hour. Emerging from those ancient ruins, Alaric has all the power he needs to protect his world from the coming darkness. Yet will he be able to bear the cost of his power and the struggle of the coming trials? If his newfound allies and friends prove true and trustworthy, they may just be able to carry each other through and save not only their world but also each other.

Daniel Todd-Norris grew up immersed in fantasy worlds. The fiction series that impacted him the most was The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, and the videogames Baldur`s Gate, Dragon Age and The Elder Scrolls also played a large role in inspiring his love of the genre. In his own debut novel, Daniel is looking to explore themes of trying to understand oneself and adapt to new realities and circumstances. He hopes he can continue the tradition of using fantastical stories to both entertain and inspire readers. Daniel currently lives in Montreal, Quebec. When he’s not working or writing, you can find him reading, playing video games, gardening, or spending time with his wife, Neveatha, and his dog, Beema.
