Shimmerlaroos and The Great Kookenama
by
Jack Smalley
An adventure story with quirky characters and strange habits. A band of buddies go on a quest for the ultimate meal and in the process find new friends. This story is about the use of our senses. How we look at our world with sight, touch, taste, smell and sound. They all contribute to how we perceive reality and why we form opinions based on appearances. But appearances can be tricky!
“A work of originality, the book includes fun neologisms and funky names that add a fantastical quality to its unique characters and settings.” —Foreword Clarion Review “A far-out book [that’s] sure to please a select audience.” —Kirkus Review
Before retiring about ten years ago, Jack owned an art, gifts and framing store, a quaint, old stone building locally known as The Stone House. He also did artwork; everything from large, outdoor murals to editorial cartooning for three local newspapers. Previously he was the owner of Smalley Youth Services, providing support to children and youth. Jack has been married for forty-seven years and has two daughters and six grandchildren. He has lived in the same house with his wife for over forty years.
