Let's Talk!
Antics Of a Talking Pancake!
by
Mary T Heffron deBrueys
Jam Cake is a talking pancake who leaps from the frying pan into exciting antics! He loves life and is always ready to explore and teach kids about the world! While he plays outside, learns new words, makes new friends, learns to share, develops his imagination, and figures out his own unique skills, Jam Cake introduces a new friend in each chapter and talks about relationships with each of them with enthusiasm and joy! Parents and grandparents, siblings, babysitters, and teachers will love this book! At the same time that Jam Cake is figuring out the world that surrounds him, the reader will re-discover simple, precious, and timeless childhood lessons, too! In delightful rhyming couplets, Jam Cake, a talking pancake, teaches kids a whole lot about a whole lot!
"I like this book!" - Luke Bajon (age 3) "Me, too!" - Emma Bajon (age 3) "It's fun to be in your book, Gram T!" - Nizza Cardinale (age 4)
Mary T Heffron deBrueys was born in Victoria, Texas, lived in Charleston, West Virginia briefly, and attended school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at St. Aloysius, St. Joseph’s Academy, and LSU. She got her master’s degree at the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and became a Language-Learning Specialist with a passion for working with students of all ages in the area of communication – verbal and written – with emphasis on academics and study skills. As a young child, Mary T had a recurring dream of a wise, talking pancake who lived on the stairs of her family’s basement in their Charleston, West Virginia home. When she married and raised 5 children with her husband, Jim, she shared the adventures of her talking pancake with her children as bedtime stories. They were passed down by her and by her children to their children. In honor of this now beloved character, Mary T’s six grandchildren contributed their art over the years as they envisioned a talking pancake would look! These drawings from the oldest to the youngest of the grandkids began as long ago as 2012 and are included here in Chapter 7. Use your imagination and enjoy Jam Cake’s adventures! Mary T is also co-author of 125 Ways to be a Better Student (Linguisystems) and author of Jambos With James (Friesen Press).
