The Other Side of the Mirror
by Bradley Lim and Jonas Salzberg

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Your own reflection? Or are you actually looking into another world? Preston thinks he’s a pretty normal kid…until he puts on a pair of mysterious gloves that he finds on his pillow one morning. When he does, the mirror in his bedroom shatters like his dreams of becoming a professional NBA mascot for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Stepping through the star-shaped portal behind the mirror, Preston lands smack dang in the middle of the Reversed World. The Reversed World is nothing like the world Preston came from—and everything like it! Everything is backwards and just a little bit shaken up. Oh, and Preston is the Chosen One destined to stop the evil High King. No pressure, though. It’s only the fate of the world. Preston meets a wacky cast of characters who help him learn more about this world and his place in it. But will it be enough to rescue his parents and stop the High King? Will Preston save the world—or die trying? Featuring emotion, betrayal, and a lot of laughs, The Other Side of the Mirror is the first book in a series. Join Preston for some high-adrenaline adventure, very wacky laughs, and death-defying stunts. You won’t be able to put this one down.

Bradley Lim loves to write. He’s written enough short stories that he could fill a few collections with his as-yet unpublished work. One of those stories, “Mission: Projector,” received the Honorable Mention in the 2021 Polar Expressions Publishing Short Story Contest. When Bradley was eight years old, he opened the shoe closet at his house and saw that there were two mirrors, one on the back side of each door. He found that if you lined those mirrors up just right, they would reflect off each other, creating a portal-like effect. It was so mesmerizing, almost as if he could step inside… Inspired by the idea, he told his writing teacher Jonas Salzberg about the world inside the mirror. What if they could turn the idea into a book? Jonas agreed to help, and the two of them started the process of writing The Other Side of the Mirror. Bradley lives in Richmond, BC, Canada, with his family. He thinks that everyone needs more humour in their lives, so of course he decided to fill the book with many zany jokes and hilarious characters. At just ten years old, Bradley is an RCM Level 8 Pianist. He loves to play piano, read books, and do competitions in any category besides history.
