Optical Prism
by
Katie Trotter
Optical Prism is a collection of colourful poetry that dives into many struggles and experiences young women might have to face in this modern age. The light and dark issues of today's society – toxic relationships and masculinity, depression and suicide, diversity and sexuality, trauma and abuse, sexual assault, and parent-child relationships – and smaller, personal issues like romantic love and heartbreak are emanated through these poems.
A university student with the aim of majoring in English and Creative Writing, Katie Trotter is pursuing a long childhood dream of becoming an author. From a very young and tender age, Katie was enthralled by books and took up the pastime of writing and poetry to better express herself. The many struggles women face in their early adult and adolescent years along with some of her own personal experiences inspired her when she wrote Optical Prism.
