What Do You See
When You Look at the Clouds in the Sky
by Rita Giorgio

“What do you see when you look at clouds in the sky? Do you see a fluffy bunny with a twinkle in its eye?” “What do you see when you look at clouds in the sky? Do you see a cute dog wearing a bright bow tie?” Ava has an incredible imagination, and she loves to make use of it. One day, she takes her brother Noah to the park across the street, where she teaches him to find shapes in the clouds. In delightful rhyming verse, the two children search for all kinds of magical, wonderful sights in the clouds—and some delicious ones, too! Soon their stomachs are rumbling, but there’s time for a few more sights before they head home for dinner. Noah can’t wait to tell you all about the fun game, and maybe play it again someday soon. What will they see when they look in the sky? What will you see?

As the youngest of six and the product of two beautiful Italian immigrants, I enjoyed endless love, ate everything homemade (including the soup made from my father’s never-ending loving vegetable garden), and overcame the scarcity of toys by inventing my own entertainment. My especially vivid imagination took me many places, and I recall how often I spent my days lying in the daisy fields transforming the clouds into fantastical worlds. At night, I would transcribe these ideas into a voluminous journal.   It was much later in life when my youngest of three daughters listened to me recite my old writing, and offered to complete the last sentence with her own rhyme, that I realized I should transition my efforts into children's books. I am extremely excited and thankful to share to these completed works with you now; and, I trust their words will spark your imagination, too!
