My Wandering Mind
by
Barbara Ellis
A collection of memories and observations during a long and happy life. Wonderful memories of places visited, places only dreamed of, and then becoming a reality. Memories of being young in a world that moved at a slower pace. Observing and enjoying nature and the outdoors, loving appreciating the gifts that each revolving seasons brings.
I was born in Hungary during the second world war so my first few years were very traumatic. At age eight, my life changed forever when my father decided to uprooted his family and escape our homeland. We walked across the border into Austria and after several difficult weeks, we arrived in Switzerland. Our stay there only lasted for 18 month before we were sent on our way to the far off continent of Australia. After seven years in Australia, my father once again moved us to a new continent and a new country, Canada. Three years later he and mother moved again, this time to the State of Pennsylvania, but this time, they moved alone. My sister and I decided to stay behind.
