Labelling the Heart
by
H Dale Lloyd
The world, as in nature, is intimidated by difference, and the church feels its mission is to fix it. All must be conformed to a ‘normal’ appearance, whatever that is. Fixing differences means eliminating them rather than embracing them and being enriched by them.
H. Dale Lloyd has nurtured a lifelong passion for words, writing poetry since childhood and telling stories full of heart and humanity. A minister by vocation, he brings to his work both sensitivity and insight, drawing inspiration from the lives of others, particularly those who face the weight of societal discrimination. His most recent book, Labelling the Heart, is a collection of short stories that shines a light on lives too often pushed to the margins. He is also the author of six previous books: Laura’s Summer (2022), The Heart Unstructured (2021), October’s Dying (2019), A Tale of Two Fields (2009), January’s Child: The Colour of a Soul (2009), and Wrappers and Revelation: Finding God in All the Wrong Places (2008). Dale lives in Napanee, Ontario, with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. When he is not writing, he enjoys photography and poetry, always returning to his love of language and stories that stir the human heart.
