Unknown Journey
Where There's Hope, One Never Gives Up
by
Irma Olivier
When my husband was admitted to the emergency room, his life was hanging by a thread: he was given until morning to live. As he heard the doctors relate this to me, in his critical state he managed to respond, “Like Hell, I’m getting out of here!” The only thing the doctors provided me with was HOPE, as three of his organs had completely shut down. As you read this story, I guarantee you will feel his energy and strong will to survive.
Irma was raised in Eastern Manitoba, on a farm, in a small community. “I come from a family of eight siblings; three brothers and four sisters, and of course two wonderful parents whom I am very grateful for. They taught my siblings and I many valuable ethics, that are still to this day ingrained in my character. We were and still are, a very close family. Growing up, we all helped with chores that had to be done daily. Being the first born, I was the one who first had to help with tending the animals with my dad and was also taught how to use the farm equipment. Which I have no regrets, doing so built character, and gave me a strong personality. I thoroughly enjoyed going to school, always excelled in my grades, and got along with all the other students. It was a pleasure. I moved to the big city of Winnipeg at the age of 18, pursued a career that I worked at for 35 wonderful years, and still enjoy doing to this day. In the course of those years I met and married the love of my life, and we raised three fantastic children! If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing!”
