Brooklyn's Pizza Man
by
Jack Perrone
and
Eve Perrone
Brooklyn's Pizza Man is about a family run pizzeria in Brooklyn, New York where Vito Jr. buys magical pizza flour that gives rise to the character Pizza Man. Pizza Man is a magical slice of pizza who defends pizza with his magical powers from the local pests of Brooklyn. The book is about family, business, pride in your work and beliefs, and of course, food, magic, mice, pizza, midnight and action. The book will delight elementary school children, both to read and be read to. Enjoy!
Jack Perrone is a practicing obstetrician/gynecologist in Rochester, Minnesota. This is his first children’s fiction book. The idea for the book came from his seven year old daughter Eve. Eve drew and wrote a short story of Pizza Man and taped it to her wall. Jack noticed it one night while reading her a book before bed. He thought this would be a great story line and concept for a children’s book. Jack told Eve, he could write a book based on her idea and picture and they could be co-authors. Eve agreed after some bargaining about book percentages, and he wrote the book. Jack used four of her story lines in the book and also generated the Pizza Man character from her drawing. This book has been a fun sharing and educational experience for both Jack and Eve. Eve’s mother is from Brooklyn and after visiting Brooklyn several times, Jack thought Brooklyn was the perfect location to base the book from. Jack graduated from Rutgers University and New Jersey Medical School, and he also knows the area and the pizza well.
