Melissa Washington is an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience staffing and recruiting. After being laid off from her job in 2009 during the US market crash, she embarked on a nearly two-year journey of career reinvention that led her to assisting others facing similar employment frustration get back on track. Melissa now owns SmartNet Strategies, which provides LinkedIn training workshops for individuals and organizations. She is also the executive director of Active Job Seekers of America, and is a board member of Working Women International. Having presented at numerous speaking engagements, Melissa has also been featured on, Fox News 40, KCRA NBC 3, ABC News 10 and Capital City Radio, as well as in Style Magazine and the Sacramento Business Journal. She is the 2011 recipient of the prestigious Sacramento Business Journal 40 Under 40 award. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys learning about her family’s ancestry, and loves being the “Cookie Mom” for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. She resides with her beloved husband Jarrod and daughter Maya in Northern California. Melissa is a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
