This raccoon loves adventure! Sammy Ringtail is different from his brother and sister. He may be the youngest and the smallest, but he loves big adventures - just like his Uncle Jack. Tonight Sammy is fed up of being teased while his mother is off hunting. He wants to prove once and for all that he is no “baby” raccoon – and that all of his uncle’s stories about the “Big City” are really true. Sammy breaks the rules and leaves home! But will Sammy find adventure, danger – or even find his way back home?

There was not much wildlife on the small Caribbean island where Jennetta Younge grew up, neither in the big city, London, where she lived as a young woman. But her whole family got acquainted with wild animals when they moved into a large, older house in New Jersey. Three noisy baby raccoons had moved in with them - underneath their bathtub! Now a retired public elementary school teacher living in Southern California, Jennetta was inspired to share her raccoon tales. She is the mother of two adult children, a son and a daughter, Natasha, who helped her to edit this story. Unlike Sammy, they both followed her rules - well, most of the time.
