Do Carrots Really Grow in My Ears?
by
Wendy Delcourt
Come learn about the body with Stormy and the Hygiene Queen! What’s up with belly button fuzz? Can you build castles out of eye sand? Do toes really make jam—and, more importantly, does it taste good? It’s time to get giggling, flossing, and scrub-a-dub-dubbing on this rhyming adventure through good rules and habits of healthy body care practices. Bodies are good teachers when you know how to listen to them. That means making sense of silly adult sayings and how they relate to healthy growth and development in young children. Buckle up!
"Children can relate to the engaging questions about our 'splenderful' bodies and learn the importance of healthy hygiene habits in the most delightful, enticing way." Anita Krueger-Horne (Mom, Gramma, Clinical Counsellor) "Children’s books are lanterns for the soul—lighting small hearts with wonder, curiosity and laughter. Whoever knew carrots could become advocates for the 'splendourful mystery' of their bodies. In this enchanting book, every page becomes the words of a wise and gentle author who shapes children’s imagination toward a healthy respect for their young bodies." Dr. Keith Anderson (DMin. President Emeritus of The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology) "A wonderfully whimsical tale about the weird and wacky ways our bodies function. The Hygiene Queen is the perfect teacher for curious young readers, sure to have the whole family giggling (and scrub-a-dub-dubbing)!" Kathleen McMahon (Bsc, MBT, Med Student - Year 3) “Taking care of your mind and body helps you feel safe, calm, and strong inside. When you help your body slow down, check in with how you feel, release tension, and give yourself rest and care, you’re showing love to yourself." Samantha Cooper (BSW, MACP, RCC)
