Thought Bytes From The Carpenter
by Earl D. Silver

They greet the rising sun with hammer, saw, and square. Where nothing stood for years on end there is now an edifice there. Thought Bytes from the Carpenter is a collection of poems designed to make us pause, reflect, and consider our lives. With themes that span the gamut from thought provoking and heavy to light and whimsical, and sharing a deep connection to God and religion, these poems give us a sense of joy and encouragement, and awaken our memories. Using both free verse and rhyming poetry, poet Earl D. Silver provides readers with bites of poetry that feel like a snack at bedtime. Instead of eating a big heavy sandwich, why not pop a cherry in your mouth and savour the flavour?

The carpenter has not been idle since the publication of Shavings from a Carpenters Pencil and Easter with the Carpenter and those of us hoping for another collection of Earls poetry need wait no longer. The 300 plus poems in ‘Thought Bytes from a Carpenter’ are as the title implies, relatively brief and varied. Many reference nature, mornings, evenings, seasons of our year and of our lives. Divine Grace is a common theme, sometimes stated, often implied. Some thought bytes we encounter in this compilation evoke memories or create a mood; some paint vivid pictures or simply produce a smile while others demand rereading and further contemplation. There is something of value to be found by the reader on any given day. By Myrna Darling, Educator
