Remember, You Must Die.

Tim Scott, funeral director of the sunny (if slightly off-kilter) community of Swinging Palms, Florida, is used to the ebb and flow of local mortality. So when the death rate suddenly plummets, Tim notices. And when it suddenly surges, he really notices, especially since his phone won’t stop buzzing with urgent texts for pick-ups. With his recently separated son, Frank, moving back in and his wife, Dolores, launching a campaign for local office, Tim’s life is already chaotic. But the sudden uptick in decedents—most of them already terminally ill—has him and his quirky band of friends sniffing something suspicious in the salty coastal air. Doctors might not blink at a few extra “natural” deaths, but Tim knows better. The deeper he digs, the more tangled the truth becomes. And when it comes to death, dignity, and doing what’s right, Tim is about to find out just how far he’s willing to go. Remember, You Must Die is a witty cozy mystery that blends small-town charm, a cast of lovable eccentrics, and a surprisingly sharp look at the fine line between mercy and murder.
p. w. jones knows firsthand that no two goodbyes are the same. Both of her parents chose medical assistance in dying—a legal option in Canada, where she lives—while her in-laws, believing they’d live forever, faced the challenges of dementia in their final years. These deeply personal experiences inspired jones to explore end-of-life issues through fiction, blending warmth, wit, and compassion to spark meaningful conversations about death and dignity. A scientist by training but a storyteller at heart, jones honed her craft through formal writing and has previously authored several technical works. Remember, You Must Die is her debut novel. She lives with her husband and their dog in the foothills of Alberta.
