Skyborne Insight, Homemade Love
by
Katharine Weinmann
Bringing together the rich complexity of her free verse poetry with original photography, Skyborne Insight, Homemade Love is a metaphor for poet Katharine Weinmann’s realizations about living, often brought into focus while flying. Personal experiences resonate with universal themes, inviting readers to explore their own questions about loss and grief, identity, and the nature of the world around them. Evocative and lyrical, this is a meditation on the beauty found in life’s inevitable imperfections, the wonder of travel, and the everyday moments and choices that come together to heal and make a joyful existence. Readers will be uplifted and inspired to cultivate a wise appreciation and tender fierceness to navigate opportunities and challenges.
… a generous collection that marries poems and images to express the hard-earned wisdom of a lifetime … Tender, vulnerable, and brazenly heart-felt, these poems achieve their effect with a voice that is always searching and honest, and a poetic lens that reflects a sense of reverence and wonder. ROSEMARY GRIEBEL, Author of Yes The poet’s task is to ask the questions, to stop at nothing less, to remain faithful to the journey, however difficult, with no rock unturned. This is what Katharine Weinmann achieves in this beautifully presented debut collection. DIANA E. HAYES, Author of Sapphire and the Hollow Bone, and other titles.

When the onset of COVID-19 resulted in the sudden loss of her professional career, Katharine began to study how to write poetry, realizing a long-held dream. Her graduate degree in clinical social work and professional training in psychotherapy, group facilitation, and leadership coaching, have shaped the unique and sensitive perspective from which she composes her poems and photos. An intrepid global traveller who walks long distances, Katharine lives on the Canadian prairies with her husband and their newest English Setter, Walker.
