Frieda and the Lawnmower
by
Ginny Marie Toews
Poor Lady Jane doesn't know what to do! Her good friend, Frieda the hen, is bored. Frieda is tired of doing the same thing every day: scratching in the dirt, looking for bugs, and finding new places to lay her eggs have all lost their charm. She wants to go on an adventure. And she has the perfect one in mind… When it’s time for her human, Poppy, to mow the big lawn, she uses a shiny red riding lawnmower. Freida loves to watch Poppy sitting way up high, driving the big machine. Lady Jane and the other hens are worried that Freida will get hurt, but she’s determined to jump on, and riding the lawnmower seems like the perfect adventure! Frieda and the Lawnmower is book two in the Poppy's Happy Hens series. This charming book is about how we can use our imaginations to go on incredible adventures. Children will delight in these feisty hens, their idyllic farm, and Frieda’s big adventure.
Ginny Marie Toews is an artist who uses acrylics to capture the beauty of living by the sea. She is a mom to six wonderful children and has spent many happy hours reading stories to them. She also loves chickens, and the family has eight happy hens and a lovely chicken coop. When she isn’t writing, Ginny enjoys quilting, baking, drawing, building things out of old pallet boards, and mowing the lawn. She lives in the enchanting coastal province of Nova Scotia with her husband, children, cats, cows, and of course, mischievous hens.
