W. K. Shephard Raised in Nova Scotia, after graduating high school, his Join his local volunteer fire department. Always having an interest while growing up to pursue a career in the first responder profession as a police officer or firefighter. While serving in the fire department, he worked as a security health care officer for the Halifax Infirmary Health Center. As well as attending the Maritime Business College. Soon after graduating, he was accepted to attend the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy. There he would meet his future wife. The two would be posted to northern Manitoba together where their son would be born. Serving both a four-year term in the northern and southern district of Manitoba, he was faced with a difficult decision to leave his policing career to put his family’s wellbeing first. He and his family relocated to British Columbia, closer to extended family. He fell into a deep depression up to planning his suicide and ensuring his family would be taken care of after his passing. Shephard had dabbled in writing and was encouraged by friends and family to focus on his hobby. After acquiring the help, he needed and focusing on mental and physical health, he started his first novel and found clarity, being able to recover from his depression. Shephard’s main focuses now is his family. He continues to write and plans on publishing more novels, drawing on his experiences as a first responder in both law enforcement, security, and firefighting. He supports and is active in the mental health betterment of first responders and military personal both serving and veterans.
