The Adventures of Willow
by Norm McDougall

Willow is a sweet, clever little squirrel who’s about to experience her first winter. She’ll use her creativity and imagination to have all kinds of fun with the other woodland creatures. Together they’ll make new friends, solve tricky problems, and invent fun games to play. The Adventures of Willow is a charming chapter book for early readers. It encourages children to interact with Willow’s adventures by sharing ideas, talking about the illustrations, and drawing their own versions of the characters. The exciting and humourous situations the characters encounter are written to entertain and delight thoughtful children.

Norm McDougall, author of The Adventures of Willow, was inspired to write this collection of stories by his grandkids Kieran, Ryker, Andrew, and Moira. One snowy December, Moira and her gaga (grandpa) were playing in a park when she created the characters of Willow and Billow. During the early months of the pandemic, Gaga would write one chapter a week to send to his grandkids. After he shared the stories with his sister-in law, Ailwin Boulet, she was inspired to add her wonderful illustrations to the stories. Ailwin grew up in a creative home where sewing, carving, and exploring were the norm. As a child, her dream was to draw cartoons for Walt Disney. This is her first work as an illustrator, and Ailwin is thrilled to have been part of this project. When she isn’t creating, Ailwin shares her life with Marjorie and Rosco the dog in Edmonton, Alberta.
