Yellow a love story
Discovering treasures hidden in dark places
by Ian W. McSporran

When Ian W. McSporran travelled to Montreal, Quebec, for the Olympic Games in 1976, he had no idea he would meet the love of his life, his soul mate, and his best friend there. Within four years of meeting Gerda, he left England and emigrated to Canada. Over the next few decades Ian and Gerda had three children and settled into a fulfilling life together. After thirty-seven happy years of marriage, Gerda received the devastating news that she had terminal cancer. Ian and his family were now faced with taking an unwelcome journey through the valley of the shadow of death, but what followed was a transcendental period for the couple. Through their grief they discovered new depths to their love, finding treasures hidden in dark places. As they shared their love for each other they also found a deeper devotion to their Heavenly Father, and a great sense of peace in the process. This is an epic story of love, loss, faith, and hope. For those who feel discouraged by the challenges of life, Yellow a love story will inspire you to find meaning where it previously may have seemed impossible.

Ian W. McSporran was born in Northern England and spent his childhood on his parents' dairy farms in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, growing up alongside his four siblings. The family later moved to the seaside town of Morecambe, known for its stunning views across the bay to the world-renowned Lake District. In 1980, Ian emigrated to Canada to pursue the love of his life, Gerda, whom he married the following year. For 38 years, they made their home in Burlington, just west of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario. A life long REALTOR®, Ian continues to reside there and is grateful to have all three of of his children and nine grandchildren nearby. He enjoys a full life—balancing time with family, friends, his trusted real estate team and clients, cheering on his childhood football team, Burnley, and remaining actively involved in his local church community.
