Gimme a Break!
by
Chanda Minor Brigance
Chan is a caregiver, which means she takes care of people who cannot take care of themselves. It’s a special and important job, but it can be tiring, so Chan is careful to take a break when she needs one.
Presented for children, Gimme a Break! highlights the importance of caregivers caring for themselves as well as those they work with. Some strategies included in the story include connecting with friends and family, exercising, and enjoying a treat from time to time. Above all, Gimme a Break! reminds caregivers that it’s always appropriate to ask for a break.
Chanda Minor Brigance is co-founder of the Brigance Brigade Foundation, which raises grant funding for those living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). Her personal experiences as a caregiver inspired her to write children’s books. She is the author of Who Cares? and Will You Remember? as well as Gimme a Break!. Besides writing, she enjoys eating, relaxing, and vacationing. Chanda lives in Baltimore, Maryland, with her husband. Connect with her at chandaminorbrigance.com, or learn more about the Brigance Brigade Foundation at brigancebrigade.org.
