Princess Pippa and The Dark Shadow
by Carissa D. Kohut

Princess Pippa is a fierce, clever fairy who lives in an enchanted forest. Everything in her home is alive and beautiful, from the animals to the birds to the flowers and trees. Princess Pippa loves to sing, and she loves to build clever inventions. She keeps everyone safe with her trusty spear, and can often be found patrolling, or sitting by a tree and singing a beautiful song. Most of all, Princess Pippa shares her bright light with the creatures of the forest. She is the only fairy who glows, and that makes her very special! But Dark Shadow is jealous of Princess Pippa’s light. If Dark Shadow can destroy the light it will become the most powerful creature in the entire forest. Dark Shadow sends an evil fog to capture the princess and carry her off to the Dark Mountains. WHAT WILL PRINCESS PIPPA DO? WILL HER LIGHT FADE, OR WILL SHE FIND A WAY TO ESCAPE THE CRUEL DARK SHADOW? This book will appeal to young readers who love fantasy and magic. Children have incredible imaginations, and all it takes to awaken them is the right story. Join Pippa as she learns how to overcome adversity and tap into the light that exists inside each of us.

Carissa D. Kohut has a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University, and has been teaching children for over twenty years. She started telling stories at an early age, usually horse stories featuring herself as the main character! She has even used stories to help explain challenging learning concepts, such as Pythagorean theory and history, when she taught high school. Carissa has always enjoyed children’s literature. Story time was one of her most treasured times of the day when she taught young children. Carissa loves riding and caring for her horses and animals, as well as flower and vegetable gardening. She is passionate about music and singing, and thoroughly enjoys audiobooks. Carissa lives in the small town of Ogema in sunny Southern Saskatchewan. Carissa is an Equine Assisted, Animal Assisted, Music and Art Therapy practitioner from her forty-acre home farm, and undertakes various farming operations like haying to feed her herd. She lives with her husband, daughter, two cats, one dog and five horses.
