Writing on love and desire, grief and heartbreak, power and ethics, Islamic ideals and societal norms, parenthood, parental death, and the twisting paths of the mind, Syed moves from dark to light, innocence to experience, doubt to trust, despair to resilience, lost to found.
Fari Syed is a poet, parent, and registered social worker. Her life’s work is practicing care selfcare and community care—and communication. She sees her poetry as a means of therapeutic self-exploration and has become more resilient through writing. In her spare time, she likes to exercise, spend time with loved ones, and pursue creative goals. The Essence of Love and Experience is her first book.
