Short Story Poems
Written in Rhythm and Rhyme
by David Dwight

This inspiring collection of rhyming poems and lyrical stories takes us on a journey through the author’s life as he experiences love, marriage, heartbreak, and fatherhood. Looking back from the perspective of an older man, David celebrates the precious moments that led him to where he is now, such as meeting his beloved wife, Polly. He expresses his deep love for God and country and shows readers how he rode the ups and downs of life with faith and resilience. In these difficult times it is easy to forget the simple things, such as being kind to one another and enjoying the short time we have together. These poems are a gentle reminder to live our days to the fullest.

David was raised outside a small town in the Ozark Mountains and brought up in a hard-working, third-generation roofing family where he was taught honesty and life’s principles. He went on to choose a career serving his country in the United States military and the Coast Guard. Growing up, David always enjoyed rhyming poetry, and after he retired, he was inspired to write his own poems after becoming godparent to three-year-old Annsley. He is a lover of cars and owned several street rods, tractors, and trucks. He is a self-professed workaholic, and in his time off, he likes to take drives to the river to reflect. He lives in McGehee, Arkansas, with his wife, Polly.
