Hailey Loves Dandelions
by C. Ingrid Deringer

Hailey picks dandelions wherever she goes. As she grows older, her mother and nana teach her how to make yummy food with the flowers and leaves, her grandpa teaches her to make medicinal tea with the roots, and at summer camp, she even uses dandelions to make beautiful artwork. As Hailey ages, she teaches her own children and grandchildren about the many uses of dandelions she so dearly loves. Uh-oh . . . Little Sophie, her granddaughter, thinks they are weeds and should be killed! Can Hailey show her just why she loves dandelions so much? Hailey Loves Dandelions is a heartwarming story about family bonds and how one woman’s love of dandelions is passed down through the generations. Included in the back is a tasty fun recipe for dandelion and lemon muffins. This is the first book in the Love the Earth series by Ingrid Deringer. Ingrid creates books for her grandchildren that focus on family bonds and the importance of taking care of the earth. She is currently working on the second book in the series, called Where is Away.

Ingrid Deringer was inspired to write Hailey Loves Dandelions by her own granddaughter, Hailey, who loved to pick dandelions when she was a little girl, and by her mother and grandmother, both of whom frequently cooked with dandelions. Ingrid is an organic farmer, semi-retired Acupuncturist, and author of Shall We Dance? a children’s story about the enduring love between a grandmother and her grandson, and If I Could Live Again, a heart-wrenching family saga that spans over one hundred years. Ingrid has four grandchildren and lives in Saskatchewan, Canada. www.ingridderinger.com Kateryna Manko is an illustrator and artist living in the Ukraine who is inspired by fairy tales, decorative folk art, modern art, and cartoons.
