From Coal Oil Lanterns to FaceTime
A Memoir
by
Donalda Dawn Dube
From Coal Oil Lanterns to FaceTime spans over 95 years of family life in rural northern New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Montreal, Ottawa, and Halifax. In this thought-provoking, emotional and compelling story, the author details her mother’s life long struggles with mental health and medical issues. The author shares with us personal “heart-to-heart” conversations she had with her mother, in which she learns of the many trials and tribulations of her ancestors and the uplifting discovery of new-found family members. This deeply personal story takes us through 9 decades of historical events, tumultuous times in our world and how the author’s family lived with mental health issues.
Donalda Dawn Dubé was born in Montreal and is a graduate of Sir George Williams University. She has had a fulfilling 30-year career as a public relations and communications professional in both the public and private sectors. Dawn enjoys cycling, reading, writing, cooking and most of all, frequent outdoor excursions with her husband, children and grandchildren around the beautiful Ottawa Valley.
