Maggie the Muskie
The Lost Glasses
by
Tracy McGlynn
Ava and Sophie are out on the lake with their father when he loses his glasses. He’s blind, and he’s lost the paddle in the water! But the girls aren’t scared: they know Maggie the Muskie lives in the lake. The big fish is famous for helping people who are in trouble. Together, Ava and Sophie sing the song that summons Maggie the Muskie. But will she answer their call? And if she does, will she be able to find the glasses before the sun goes down? This charming book is all about determination, friendship, and the fantastic creatures that live all around us in the natural world. Join Maggie, Ava, and Sophie on the adventure of a lifetime.
"A wonderful story to inspire perseverance and resiliency, while introducing children to two-dimensional shapes and a love of nature." —Kris Irwin, G1 teacher.
Tracy McGlynn has a vivid imagination and has always loved telling stories. But the tale of the Lost Glasses didn’t need much embellishment! It’s based on the true story of the time her husband lost his own glasses in Long Lake and spent three days trying to find them—and he did! Inspired by his tenacity and Blair’s beautiful song, Tracy wrote her own story of a fish who just won’t quit. Tracy lives with her husband and two beautiful, adventurous, funny children in Markham, Ontario, Canada, with their cat Lola.
