Whimsical Outbreak
by Kat Chartier

What do you do when the most joyful place on earth turns into a living nightmare? Ray and Bella are standing in line, impatiently waiting so she can meet her favourite character, Baroness Emberella, when things go horribly wrong. While Ray’s making one of the most difficult decisions of his life, Vanessa and Tom are separated as they try to get their twin boys to safety. In the meantime, Tyler and Michelle’s three-month dating anniversary has become a teenage tragedy, and Adrian struggles with looking after her younger brother. What starts as a typical day at the best amusement park in the universe quickly turns into chaos as a virus spreads like wildfire through the patrons and staff. As the shrinking number of uninfected fight for survival against the insatiable undead, the struggle to escape the park becomes increasingly difficult. How do they choose the right path while dealing with panic, loss, grief, anxiety, and uncertainty? Will they survive, or will they succumb to the hordes of undead shambling throughout the rides and attractions? In this suspenseful and horror-filled parody, author Kat Chartier brings a new twist to a tale of blood, gore, zombies, and theme parks.

A FILM SCHOOL GRADUATE, Kat Chartier has endless stories living in their head and on their computer in the format of screenplays. Tired of those stories going nowhere, it was the pandemic that made them realize that life is too short to give up, so they decided to bring those stories to life through novels. Kat worked at the Disney Store and quickly found it was a very surreal place to work. There were moments when people were genuinely wholesome and other moments when they saw people’s true colours. They love Disney, but working at the store opened them to a new perspective. Kat can usually be found at comic conventions in cosplay and volunteers with Cosplay for a Cure, which raises money at those conventions for local charities. The rest of the time, Kat can be found at home with their cats and dog.
