The Truth about Condo Pets
by Catherine Durzo and Michael Durzo

Romeo, Fido, Droopy, Minnie, Lupa, and Lola love their life at the kennel. They’ve all been adopted by the kennel owners, and they’re one happy family. Bella is the only dog still waiting to be adopted. When a family finally comes for her, the dogs are thrilled for their friend... Until they learn that the new family who has come to adopt Bella is from the scariest place on Earth—a condo! As Bella tries to decide whether or not to go and live with this family, the dogs share terrifying stories about how condo living changes pets, even turning them into fakdogs. But Lupa, the wise German Shepherd, explains how changes and differences are a good thing, and that you shouldn’t believe all the stories you hear. Will Bella be brave and go with the family she is already half in love with? And if she does, will she turn into a fakdog after all?

Catherine Durzo has a degree in psychology from York University, and a postgraduate certificate in legal studies from the Harvard University extension school. She loves animals, reading, learning about different cultures, and traveling with her family. Michael Durzo is in high school. He plays soccer and is passionate about the game. He likes all animals, but when he was a child, he desperately wanted to have a dog. The problem was that his family lived in a condo. His mother was worried about having a pet in a condo. He and his father finally convinced her it would be okay. The day they adopted Bella was one of the happiest days of their lives. On the way home from picking Bella up, they discussed how Bella would adapt to life in a condo. It was then that they came up with the story Condo Pets, starring Bella.
