The Professor and the Plumber
Conversations About Equality and Inequality
by
Eric W Sager
Two cousins meet for dinner. Who are they? Why is a plumber arguing with a professor? They begin to discuss one of the great problems of our time - inequality. Can they find solutions? Can they agree on the meaning of equality? Follow their conversation to its powerful conclusion.
“Engaging, accessible and thought provoking. This book is a good first step for anyone interested in exploring inequality as well as other social justice issues.” —David Wilson, retired orchard contractor, Kelowna, BC. "I found this book easy to read and digest. It helps us to think about how we can build a more fair, less unequal society.” —Deborah Gesensway, journalist, Toronto. “More succinct and accessible than Piketty.” —Leo Eutsler, retired carpenter, Burnaby BC. “This book is well written, accessible to readers without an academic background, and entertaining. It’s a quick yet informative read.” —Nalini Elisa Ramlakhan, Philosophy PhD student, York University. “Inequality is at the heart of the social issues we must address. It is essential that inequality be more widely understood.” —Patrick Monahan, geologist, Victoria, B. C. "These are pressing social issues indeed. I found the dialogue method engaging and good leavening to the statistical information. We can do better as a society!" —Phil M. Lew, builder and designer, Corvallis, Oregon. “Sager makes complicated ideas digestible and gives us a very fun read.” —Corina Lee, graduate student in Philosophy, York University. “Many times I’ve struggled with your academic door stoppers. Now you write something readable - and you’re telling me that publishers don’t want it?!” —Grant M. Morrison, cousin of the author, Surrey, B.C.
