The Journey of a Band of Villanova Brothers
A Memoir
by Raymond W Kane

Long-lasting friendships are rare, but they do happen. In 1962, sixteen young men, strangers all, chose to enroll as freshmen at Villanova University located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. They met at different times and in different ways over their college years, but The Journey of a Band of Villanova Brothers had begun. A remarkable, almost mystical bond ignited and grew among these men even after graduation when they started their life journeys, and all went their separate ways. Grounded in the principles of truth, unity, and love that they learned at Villanova, this bond has lasted for fifty-five years. The Journey of a Band of Villanova Brothers explores the essence of that bond which in some ways is more vital than ever and uncovers the meaning of true friendship.

Ray Kane graduated from Villanova University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, after which he served as an officer in the US Navy commissioned through the NROTC unit at Villanova. After his Navy service, he embarked on a 45-year career in the environmental engineering & management consulting business. As the Principal Editor and Producer, Ray provided overall guidance and direction to the 16 contributing authors whose memoirs are included in this book. Ray currently lives in Naples, FL. Lee Doyer, one of the Band of Brothers, graduated from Villanova in 1967 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and had a successful 50-year career in the material processing equipment business. Lee, as co-editor, compiled and laid out the 140 images in the memoir and produced the In Memoriam section of the book. Lee currently resides in Media, PA. The other contributing authors, now in their retirement years, have collaborated to write this one-of-a-kind group memoir, The Journey of a Band of Villanova Brothers.
