Blueberries and Bears
by
Shelley Bonter
It’s a hot summer day in July, and while kids are playing on the docks and adults lounging by the shore, two boys set off on an adventure of their own: to hunt down blueberries! In their paddleboat, the boys are unstoppable, and their song rings out for all to hear! Of course, they don’t realize that there are many animals listening, too. As the boys paddle to search for those sweet treats hidden under leafy green canopies, they have a bigger audience than they ever imagined! This delightful story in verse is all about the bounty of nature, and the wonder that Eastern Ontario’s outdoors has to offer. Children and adults alike will be captivated by these sweet, simple tales.
Shelley Bonter has a love for the outdoors. In winter, she enjoys going to her family cabin to enjoy the warmth of fire and cooking on a wood fired cookstove. She also enjoys cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the surrounding forest. In the summertime, Shelley bonds with her family at the lake, gardens and takes in the outdoors and the magical experiences it has to offer. It was a natural progression of that love to craft a series of books that share all the beauty and joy of nature with a new group of readers. Bonter lives in Eastern Ontario with her husband Jim, son Emerson, daughter Aylah, and their cat Tilly and dog Daisy.
