From Soldier To Civvy
It's A Journey...And I'm Not The Same Anymore by Richard (Ernie) Okrainec

The struggle is real for those who leave the military and try to reintegrate back to civilian life. After living through this conversion and seeing the constant struggles many soldiers have, Richard provides his first hand experience of the challenges he faced in his 30-years back in civilian life, while maintaining a military discipline through it all. This book describes some of the hardships soldiers face while serving, with a strong dose of humor, stories and no excuses. It's a journey of his life in the military and how it shaped him, both good and bad, with the hope it may help those trying to find their way back in civilian life.

No soldier should be left behind.

Richard (Ernie) Okrainec joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) as a 17-year-old in the fall of 1980 and served through 1988. While stationed in Winnipeg he completed a UN Tour in Cyprus and also 4 years in Germany during the end of the Cold War. He left the military obtaining the rank of Master Corporal. Upon leaving the military Richard embarked in careers that included the Media, fair & exhibitions and he is currently in his 20th year in the real estate industry managing shopping centers. He currently lives with his wife Donia in Medicine Hat, Alberta and is also a member of the local PPCLI Association.
