The Man in the Little Yellow Canoe
Adventures with Duchess
by Dennis Ryan

'The Man in the Little Yellow Canoe: Adventures with Duchess' takes its readers on an exciting adventure into the wilds with a young man and his furry companion, an Old English sheepdog. The two friends are living in a tent on McKenzie Island, paddling back and forth to a summer job in the man's homemade canoe. Their wonderful time together gets even better when the pair discovers a map to an abandoned gold mine and search for a treasure rumoured to have been hidden long ago by Mr. McKenzie himself. They can't wait to find it, even if it takes all summer. They have their map, their natural curiosity, and their little yellow canoe...but will that be enough?

A long time ago, author and pilot Dennis Ryan was the man in the little yellow canoe, working as a ramp hand up North, where he lived in a tent with his English sheepdog. His memories of that time in his life became the inspiration for the stories he told his children―stories that were then told by his children to his grandchildren. Dennis currently lives in Sarnia, Ontario with his wife, Judy, and Sparky the cat.
