A Leap of Faith
A Mother's Journey
by Christie Thomas

In A Leap of Faith: A Mother’s Journey, Christie Thomas takes readers on the roller coaster ride of mental and physical illness, abuse, loss, and grief, interspersing the ups and downs, curves and bends, with moments of exhilaration. The mother of four children, Christie honestly and transparently tells the story of her family’s journey through childhood cancer, teenage suicide, and the death of two children. She recounts the day that she reconnected with her two boys, her father, and her mother, who are safe, happy, and waiting for her on the other side of the veil separating life and “death.” As she awakened to the spiritual world, and her unique place in it, she discovered new purpose and joy in the adventure of life. This is a story of suffering and loss, but also of love, hope, resilience, support, and the search for meaning.

“This is a woman who found her voice and speaks not only from her heart, but also from her soul. Reading Christie’s book enriched me at many levels and I will be forever grateful to Christie for the opportunity to continue to learn about what is best in our human nature, and to reflect on resilience to thrive with love on the face of tragedy and ongoing personal struggles." -Dr. Maru Barrera, Ph.D, C. Psych. Psychologist, Haematology/Oncology Programme Senior Associate Scientist, Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, ON An engaging and moving true story about a courageous woman’s spiritual journey showing us that emotional healing and spiritual development must work in tandem in our psychospiritual growth. The transformational catalyst for Christie’s journey is her four children and former husband leading to many challenging spiritual lessons that she masters with grace and dignity. She embarks upon a path that only an ‘old soul’ could navigate and embraces it with resilience, faith and hope. Christie has been a student of mine and lives a life of integrity, truth, wisdom and authenticity. In the end, she demonstrates that love is the most powerful and healing energy of all. -Kathy Ryndak Co-Founder, Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training Not only does Christie share the intimacy of loss and grief, she also offers, with chilling detail, the spiral of self-doubt and distorted perceptions that come with prolonged abuse. Her book is a testament to the human spirit and one mother’s fight to keep all the balls in the air in the middle of a hurricane. Her honesty and vulnerability are uncomfortably beautiful and she succeeds in leaving us with a message of love and hope. -Michelle DesRoches, Registered Psychotherapist
