Saturday morning at Elli’s home is a time for tasty breakfasts, the bouncy trampoline, twisty train tracks, and weekly chores. Cleaning her room, doing laundry, tending the garden and making lunch are fun when Elli and her daddy work on them together. Two Soups in One Day will inspire pre-school aged readers and their grown-up friends to make their own laundry soup, and use the recipe inside to make a seasonal garden soup.
About the Author Karen Giesbrecht, now at home in Vancouver, BC, knows just how fortunate she was to grow up with an abundant vegetable garden in her back yard, a mom who taught her to cook from scratch, and a dad who always made space for stories. Karen, a registered dietitian, takes great delight in sharing good meals with family, friends, and those in her community who are hungry. About the Illustrator Lubica Mrockova grew up in a tiny village in Slovakia with a box of paints, scraps of fabric, and the local mountains as her favourite toys. Her love of nature brought her to Canada, accompanied by her bicycle, camera and electronic paintbrush. Her career has transformed from fashion design into graphic design, with forays into photography and illustration.
