Gary Mangahas was born in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines in 1967. He spent his first eight years in the Philippines in a small town, Cabiao where he began his elementary schooling. In September of 1975, he immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with his parents and two younger sisters. Mangahas studied Management and Public Speaking. He spent fifteen years working in retail, ten years in the security business and has resided in Canada for forty years. He visits the Philippines from time to time to rekindle his love for the country. In 2011, Mangahas’s life was damaged emotionally through a marriage break up of fifteen years in Canada. After losing his family, home and twin boys through the divorce he then lost his security career the following two years. With no hope, no income and a damaged dream Mangahas decided to start anew.
