When Faith Meets Opportunity
Leaving, Learning, and Living in a Foreign Land
by Y.M Palmer-Clarke

Within hours of the arrival of her visa, Yolanda left her close-knit family in Jamaica and was on a flight to Canada. In a leap of faith, she was headed for Saskatchewan, a place unheard of in Jamaica, to pursue further study. Fueled by a fierce desire to learn more, experience more, and achieve more, Yolanda entered this new stage in her life with strength and determination. Faced with the challenges of being a foreign student, Yolanda’s faith in God became her anchor. She navigated discrimination, loneliness, and harsh Canadian winters, never losing sight of her goal. She developed the resilience necessary to overcome her challenges, leading to the successful completion of her studies. When Faith Meets Opportunity is a story infused with courage and conviction. It will inspire readers to persevere and know that with faith, obstacles can be overcome and life and learning can be enjoyed.
