David J Barry was born in November 1944 in St. John's NL., the second oldest of four boys. He attended St. Bonaventure's College and Brother Rice High School and was the art editor of a yearbook at both schools. After graduating in 1963 and finding employment in the surveying field, he married Diane and they had the first two children. That is when this story really begins. There were several position changes at work until he retired in 1995. He then pursued a number of hobbies such as painting, wood carving and music which still interests him today. It was during this time when, at the urging of friends, the idea to write this book took hold.
