In the Doghouse
by Mary Katherine Kamfonas

In the Doghouse, based on a true story, is about a young man who comes to grips with the importance of the theme of giving over receiving. One morning he opens his front door to something that triggers his thoughts to his childhood. He remembers the day he disappeared and the universe turned upside down, a day when a dog made a difference. Read how the events of one afternoon in the life of a young boy shaped a powerful memory that returned years later to change the boy forever.

Mary Katherine Kamfonas is a reading specialist at the Tredyffrin Easttown Middle School outside of Philadelphia where she spends her days teaching students a variety of methods to help them become more efficient readers and more profound thinkers. This book marks Mrs. Kamfonas’ debut as a children’s book author whose intention is to present a child with a storyline that will grab on to his heart and carry him through any obstacle that gets in the way of a resourceful, inspirational reading experience. Mrs. Kamfonas, a graduate of Wells College, Aurora, New York, lives in Devon, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Michael, their two children, Grace and John, and the family dog, Pericles. This book is a memorial to the family’s first dog, Bruno, who passed away in March, 2012.
