Lola's Rainbow of Friends
by
Cari Tripoli and Juliette Del Rosario
Five-year-old Lola embarks on a journey to the park with her mommies. Upon arrival, she joins her friends who look different than her but who are actually very similar to Lola and her family. Something all families have in common is that they have fun spending time together. They build sand castles and swing on monkey bars like everyone, but as families, they are all different and special.
Lola's Rainbow of Friends explores the importance of accepting people of all races, ethnicities, lifestyles, cultural and religious backgounds.
Authors Cari Tripoli and Juliette Del Rosario wrote Lola's Rainbow of Friends with the vision of giving children of non-traditional families another child with whom they can identify. Being in a nonconventional family themselves, Cari and Juliette drew inspiration from their own lives in which they are passionate in their support of children’s literacy and equal rights. Juliette works in the health care field as a nurse. Cari works as a nanny for an amazing family and is currently pursuing her degree in early childhood education. They reside together in Chicago, Illinois.
