After Today
by A. Art de Jong

The story of two families, separated by distance and years of turmoil, finding the way to reconnect through circumstance, coincidence and effort. Their story is one of positive affirmation that family love removes all barriers. In the background of their efforts to reunite, is their recognition that bullying, disrespect and hate will challenge everyone in some way during their life. The world, however, is filled with many who challenge the wrongs with unconditional love and support. This story is a compelling generational sequel to the authors first book about these families and reinforces the true value of family. Born in the Netherlands in 1949, the author arrived in Canada at the age of 3 and lived in rural Western Canada for most of his life. Challenged by family poverty and his social challenges, the author experienced the trauma of bullying firsthand but with family support, moved on to adult careers and ultimate retirement, having been blessed with a rewarding life. The author’s farm life during his childhood and teen years and his lifelong love for horses gave him the memories and experiences he shared in his stories. This second book is the author’s statement that anything is possible if we can find the courage in ourselves to try and the willingness to accept the support we need to succeed.

Born in the Netherlands, the author, from age 3, lived his entire life in Western Canada, including his early years on the family farm. His two-book series follows rural families over two generations and the characters are similar to the people he lived amongst, lived with and witnessed during his entire life.
