Hunted By Fire
by
Tilea Horton
Lena can feel something heating up inside her. One morning on her way to work, Lena stops in at her usual café, and a chance encounter with a particularly rude customer makes her blow the place to ashes. Literally. Lightbulbs explode overhead and other customers scatter in fear. Lena is overcome with a feeling so powerful it feels like it is coming out of her hands and wrists. After the dust settles, she notices that her arms are glowing, and her ability to hide her secret—after exposing it in a very public way—just became a lot more difficult. It isn’t long before her anxious mind takes over and she’s sure she is being followed. Lena hears footsteps in the hallway outside her door, and envisions strange shadows in the streets. She doesn’t know who to trust and where to turn when she meets Daxon, a man who assures her he can take her somewhere safe. Somewhere she can learn to harness her Gifts, and not become the ignition that others want her to be. With so much uncertainty, Lena has to make the decision that could save or end her life. She just has to be brave enough to take the leap.
Debut author Tilea Horton has been a lifelong booklover and artist. In addition to spending time reading, she loves to draw, paint, sketch, and sculpt. She lives in Clandonald, Alberta, with her husband, four children, and three dogs.
