Written by a scholar whose career spans corporate and international finance, distinguished faculty governance, and deep engagement with civil society and democratic theory, this is ultimately a book of civic hope—not the easy hope that denies structural crisis, but the harder and more enduring hope that comes from examining that crisis clearly, honestly, and together.
Dr. Farhang Mossavar-Rahmani is a distinguished scholar and practitioner who bridges the worlds of academia and corporate finance. A Professor of Corporate and International Finance at National University in California since 1986, his career spans more than four decades and includes leadership roles as a chief executive officer, board director, and independent financial consultant. In addition to his academic and executive achievements, Dr. Mossavar-Rahmani is an author of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. His written works include a seven-volume historical love story; a two-volume collection of poetry; and eighteen books and numerous scholarly articles on topics ranging from economics, management, and history to strategic decision-making and financial forecasting.
