My memoir is organized around Medicine Wheel teachings: Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood, and Elderhood. It traces my life from White Anglo-Saxon Christian upbringing through marriage to a Black Mohawk man, exposure to Indigenous teachings, and my second marriage, to a woman. With the Seventh Generation in mind, author Wendy Dennys tells her life story in seven chapters in which she explores her relationships with her first spouse, Paul, and her second, Maureen, and with her children, family, and friends. With unflinching honesty and sometimes hard-earned insights, she reveals the pain of loss, grief, and family estrangement and the joy of reconnection as she takes us with her on her physical, emotional, and spiritual journey to what she calls her “transformative relationship with our earthly home.” Circle Round is the story of a life that has taken more than a few unexpected twists and turns. A life that has often strayed from the path of the conventional. A life well lived.

Wendy Dennys was born in wartime England and emigrated to Canada as a young girl. She holds a degree in Women’s Studies, is retired from a career in the education field, and lives in Ottawa, Canada, with her son and his beautiful Siberian cat, Marilyn. Circle Round is her first book.
