Lewie Salmon was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, in 1953 and immigrated to Canada in 1963 at the age of ten. Growing up between cultures would later influence both his worldview and his artistic voice. A self-taught artist, Salmon began painting in his teenage years, developing his craft outside of formal institutions through experimentation, observation, and lived experience. Over the decades, his work has evolved alongside his life, reflecting personal history, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to creative expression. He currently lives and works in London, Ontario, where he continues to create and reflect on a lifetime shaped by art.
